worldwide organization that remains the largest association representing the accounting profession. The AICPA sets ethical standards for the industry and KWC views it as a valuable resource and learning tool for its employees.
Membership with the Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC) serves as a comprehensive resource provider to support us in the performance of GAO Yellow Book audits, including single audits of non-profits.
Membership with the GAQC enables us to receive up-to-date information on issues pertinent to nonprofit organizations undergoing engagements performed under OMB Circular A-133. Recent updates included tools to evaluate cost allocation for functional expenses, and procedures related to the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards.
The Center is a national community of CPA firms that demonstrate a commitment to employee benefit plan audit quality and is designed to raise awareness about the importance of ERISA audits. The AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center membership provides its members with access to a wealth of comprehensive resources
in quality employee benefit plan audits.
As a member of the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, we are committed to perform the highest quality audits possible. We demonstrate our commitment by voluntarily agreeing to adhere to the Center’s significant membership requirements, including designating a partner to be responsible for our employee benefit plan audit practice, establishing quality control programs, performing annual internal inspection procedures, and participating in a peer review program.
The Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center membership provides us timely information on a variety of technical, legislative and regulatory subjects. We can then apply these resources to our clients’ employee benefit plan audits to help ensure that they are in compliance with the appropriate standards and changes in regulation.
On a more local level, KWC employees are all members of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). This association is dedicated to enhancing the field of accounting in the state of Virginia. With the focus more on local issues the VSCPA is a valued source of information for employees at KWC.
100% membership is a designation given to a Virginia CPA firm or company that has all of its CPAs (non-CPAs may also be enrolled) enrolled as members in the VSCPA. Membership benefits include ability to influence legislators and improve our business environment, pooling the substantial resources of Virginia CPAs to increase the financial health of Virginians through our Financial Fitness campaign and other community-focused activities, and to make our firm more attractive to recruits and retain quality employees by showing them our commitment to their development and their profession.

The CPA Firm Management Association (CPAFMA) has members nationwide. Its main objective is to develop and maintain, through cooperative efforts, a high level of professional skills required to satisfy members’ growing professional needs in the field of accounting administration. The association is the one representative voice of professionals managing accounting practices. They have also largely shaped the profession, determined direction for administrator career paths, and have been on the cutting edge of developments in the accounting profession. Several of our members currently hold seats on the MAP Committee of their particular state society.
