Steve Travis is a Principal at KWC. Steve has more than 32 years of experience providing tax planning & preparation, audit & assurance, employee benefit audit, and business consulting services. He is accomplished in many industries including professional services, government contractors, non-profits, and real estate. Steve previously served as Managing Principal of the firm for 10 years.

Q. What do you love about your job?
I love the incredibly talented people I interact with on a daily basis. Our clients tend to be super high achievers in their fields, and I learn something from them on every project. I also enjoy being part of the team here at KWC, and sharing in everyone’s creativity, energy and enthusiasm for client service and professional development.

Q. Why does your job matter to your clients?
My clients value a CPA firm that’s part of their financial team and that will have a dynamic impact on their organization. Our financial and economic climate is increasingly complex, and they trust that we have the expertise to help them thrive today and in the future.

Q. How would you describe the KWC culture?
We work very hard, and we play hard. (We play hard for accountants, that is.) We have a client-centric focus on providing outstanding quality and personal service while offering challenges and opportunities for every team member.

Q. What are people most surprised to learn about your job?
That I don’t deal with numbers most of the time. The majority of my efforts are focused on interacting with clients as part of their financial team, and encouraging a culture of professional development within KWC.

Q. What’s your proudest professional achievement?
Being named Managing Shareholder at KWC.

Q. Who has been most influential in your life?
The answer changes over time, but currently, it is my children. They’re teaching me what’s important in life, as well as patience, humility, and to start every day with enthusiasm.

Q. What’s your favorite vacation spot?
I don’t get to vacation often, but when I do, I prefer the Caribbean.

Q. What’s your favorite book, or one you’ve read recently?
Steve Jobs, by Walter Isaacson.

Q. What are your favorite musicians or bands?
By decade, it’s The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, The Pixies, Radiohead and White Stripes.
